School-Wide Employee Development Plan

Companies that institute effective employee development plans rooted in their mission, goals, and values, typically have a more flexible and talented work force (Noe, 2010, p. 346).  The following PowerPoint presentation explains why our school should create a school-wide employee development plan.

  1. Sue,
I like the graphic for your title slide. You did a great job identifying the benefits of an employee development program. For educators I think that your second and third benefits of employee development are critical. It's very important for educators to know that their performance and capabilities are important and appreciated in order to improve their morale and sense of value. I also think that benefit number 5 needs to be taken more seriously by school districts.
I like the fact that you built your rationale for the employee development around creating a positive learning environment. I agree creating a positive learning environment for the teachers and students will enhance the satisfaction and performance of both. You have three great training strategies that can help you achieve your development goals. I particularly like the idea of job rotation. While some teachers will fight the need to change classes; I agree with you that it can decrease teacher burnout and very often rejuvenates the teacher. I also love the idea of a mentoring program; it enhances the teaching skills of both the mentor and mentee.
How will you measure the progress toward the accomplishment of your goals? Is there a timeline for the development plan?
    Mike
